推導(dǎo)題問的不是文中那些明確陳述而是作者強烈暗示的那部分。與觀點題不一樣，觀點題問的是文中直接陳述的內(nèi)容，推導(dǎo)題則問的是需要對文中直接陳述的內(nèi)容進行推演才能得出的觀點或含義。
作者使用間接的方式來闡述，在不具體陳述的情況下提出觀點。推導(dǎo)題測試你推斷在作者只是暗示的那一部分所意圖表達的觀點的能力。推導(dǎo)題問的不是那些文章中蘊含的生僻含義或者暗示，而是那些作者間接鋪陳的含義或者特別暗示。
要回答這些問題，你可能需要進一步以超越作者陳述所表達的字面含義，或者需要認識到作者陳述的對立面或者相對應(yīng)的一面，或者需要辨別文中使用的一個象征詞的意圖。例如，如果文章明確地給出了一個結(jié)果，你可能會被要求推導(dǎo)導(dǎo)致它的原因；如果作者比較兩個現(xiàn)象，你可能會被要求推導(dǎo)比較的基礎(chǔ)或根據(jù)；你可能會被要求從一個明確給出的新的政策的描述推導(dǎo)出老政策的特征。
因此，當你閱讀一篇文章的時候，應(yīng)該不僅僅關(guān)注作者的話所明確表達的意思，還要關(guān)注這些話所暗示的更為微妙的意思。
例：Ironically, it was Handsome Lake who can be credited with reviving the Iroquois culture.Lake, the alcoholic half-brother of Seneca Corn planter, perhaps the most out spoken proponent among the Iroquois for assimilation of white customs and institutions, was a former member of the Great Council of Iroquois nations.Inspired by a near-death vision in 1799, Lake established a new religion among the Iroquois which tied the more useful aspects of Christianity to traditional Indian beliefs and customs.(A) he was a former member of the Great Council在文章中，作者使用“Ironically”作為段落的開頭，而該題目針對這“Ironically”進行發(fā)問，透過文章，我們可以知道“Corn planter was an outspoken proponent of assimilation and that Handsome Lake was related to Corn planter as a half-brother.”既然Corn planter是吸收白人文化及制度的積極倡導(dǎo)者和支持著，而Handsome Lake與Corn planter是half-brother的關(guān)系，因此，只能說有關(guān)“Lake was responsible fro the Iroquois reasserting their national identity”這個事實是具有諷刺意味的。

(C) he was related by blood to a chief proponent of assimilation
(D) Seneca Corn planter was Lake’s alcoholic half-brother
